February 13, 2016 - The Pioneers - Boss Festival (1969)

I am so thankful for the existence of rocksteady. It's like this happy little flower that blossomed all over Jamaica for a couple of years in the late 60s.

This is the last song on the Pioneers' excellent Long Shot album. It is a very cheerful little tune, just what you would expect at a festival. The sun is shining, "everybody drinking whiskey, rum, and ginger beeeeeeeeeeeeeeer." Tra la la la. Or rather, rrrrrrrrrrrabadeebaday....love those trills. Ackee and saltfish, the national dish of Jamaica. "What more could be nicer than this?"
